Mission

The mission of the Acoustical Society Foundation (ASF) is to plan and carry out comprehensive fund-raising activities and campaigns for the benefit of the Acoustical Society of America.

Vision

The Acoustical Society Foundation envisions a significant increase in endowment so that the Acoustical Society of America can meet the challenges of furthering its position as a worldwide professional organization and enhance acoustical research and applications into the 21st century.

Policy

The Acoustical Society Foundation will use all charitable contributions and planned giving instruments to assist in funding innovative and ongoing programs of the Acoustical Society fo America. The Foundation is organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes, is exempt from taxation, and all contributions are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. Its exclusive purpose is to raise funds on a worldwide basis and manage these funds diligently to support and enrich the programs of the Acoustical Society well into the next millenium.

History

Establishment of the Foundation was approved by the Executive Council of the Acoustical Society of America in December 1996, and announced to the Society membership at the June 1997 meeting. The Foundation is incorporated with its own Board of Trustees and operates in close cooperation with the Acoustical Society. The Foundation’s Board of Trustees represents a cross-section of the Society's interests in acoustics. The Foundation works closely with the Society's Executive Council and Technical Committees to coordinate its fund-raising efforts with new Society initiatives.
